Traditional cooling methods were not keeping up with increasing heat and density from AI, HPC, and other compute-intense workloads. Plus, they wanted to efficiently manage small and large workloads side-by-side in the same data center.
The DDC team imagined a self-contained solution that precision-cooled the equipment that needed it, at precisely the intensity it needed, at any given time. No more energy wasted cooling an entire room. Nothing like that existed at the time, so they decided to build it themselves.
